As the pioneer and the leading institution of Turkey's interest-free banking sector, Al Baraka Turkey Participation Bank completed its establishment in 1984 and started operations in early 1985. Al Baraka Turkey continues its activities subject to the Banking Law no. 5411. Founded by the joint entrepreneurship of Al Baraka Banking Group (ABG), one of the leading financial groups in the Middle East, Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and a native industrial group that has been offering services to Turkish economy for over half a century, the share of foreign shareholders in the current shareholding structure of Al Baraka Turkey is 66.16%, that of domestic shareholders 11.62% while the portion open to the public is 22.22% (As of October 2009). In fact, the shareholding structure of Al Baraka Turkey signifies the prestige and confidence we enjoy.

Al Baraka Turkey, which collects funds through current accounts and participation accounts, and which then routes these funds to our country's economy by means of such services as retail financing, corporate financing, financial leasing and project-based profit/loss participation transactions, is authorized to offer a great variety of financing and banking services through its interest-free banking practices.

The Bank, which has set off with the vision of becoming the best regional bank in offering financial products and services in the Gulf, the Middle East and North Africa, where its major shareholder Al Baraka Banking Group operates, offers its customers fast, high-quality and secure foreign trade (imports, exports and foreign currency transactions) services with its vast network of correspondent banks numbering over 778 in 93 countries from Singapore to England, from South Africa to Morocco, from Australia to Kazakhstan.

Also competent in the field of Retail Banking, Al Baraka Turkey is an international participation bank, which has adopted the mission to add value to its customers, shareholders, employees, and Turkey and currently renders its services through its 100 branches throughout Turkey, 41 of which are in Istanbul and 59 in the leading industrial and commercial cities as the end of 2009.
